Creative Chinese New Year Celebrations: Noodle Play & Construction Fun

Chinese New Year is a special time filled with traditions, celebrations, and joy. At our day nursery in Nottingham, we’re excited to share this festival with your children through hands-on activities that explore the cultural spirit of the holiday, allowing them to explore textures and engage with construction and design games.

Exploring textures for Chinese New Year

Noodles are a key part of Chinese New Year celebrations, symbolising good fortune and long life. Our children will have the chance to explore different textures by playing with wet and dry noodles. They can squish, touch, and sort, allowing them to engage their senses while learning about the significance of noodles in Chinese culture. It’s a fun and interactive way to enhance motor skills and introduce new ideas.

Design Fun with a Chinese twist

Alongside noodle play, the children can enjoy a selection of typical design and creation games taking inspiration from Chinese culture, allowing them to explore and develop their creative side while engaging with a different culture. Exercises like decorating a forsythia allow them to grow their creativity in an environment that’s familiar but different, allowing for easier development and understanding.

Join The Fun and Celebrate With Us!

We love to see the children’s faces light up as they explore and play. These activities not only connect them to the festive spirit of Chinese New Year, but also encourage teamwork, communication, and a deeper understanding of different cultures. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your child to learn and grow through imaginative play.

These activities can help children connect with the meaning of Chinese New Year in a sensory and creative way, all while developing important skills. We’re thrilled to celebrate this festive occasion with you and your child–check out our gallery for a peek at the fun!
