Jelly Beans Early Years Nursery!

At Jelly Beans as an Early Years Nursery we believe learning should be joyful, imaginative, and full of exploration. Our little learners had a truly egg-citing time with a themed activity week focused on eggs, chicks, and all things springtime.

We packed our days with hand-on, sensory-rich activities that helped children develop their early maths, fine motor, and creative thinking skills, all while having loads of fun.

Counting Eggs and Chicks

What better way to build early years numeracy skills than with something children love. We introduced a fun and interactive counting activity using colourful eggs and fluffy chick figures.

Children were encouraged to count how many chicks they could find hiding in the pretend henhouse and sort the eggs by size and colour. Some of our older learners even began exploring basic addition and subtraction by “hatching” eggs and counting how many chicks popped out.

This playful approach helps develop number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and early problem solving skills, all wrapped up in a story-driven activity that sparks curiosity.

Making Eggs with Play-Doh

No week at Jelly Beans Nursery would be complete without a squishy, sensory experience, and Play-Doh was our perfect medium. Using this colourful doable material, children created and decorated their own eggs, adding patterns, colours, and even tiny baby chicks inside.

As they rolled, pinched, and shaped their creations, they were strengthening the small muscles in their hands, essential for early writing development. And of course, the laughter and storytelling that came with it were just as valuable.
