The littles ones had so much fun creating their very own scented Christmas pudding to take home for the festive season. Moon dough is a fun homemade sensory play-dough (also known as cloud dough).

How to make it at home🧑‍🍳: 

4. Drop in a few drops of your favourite essential oil. We love Christmas scents like orange, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

5. Mix it all together and knead until you’ve got a soft, bendy dough perfect for little hands.

Jingle bell balancing activity 🔔

Another exciting festive activity the children loved was balancing the jingle bell. They giggled and focused intently as they tried to keep the tiny bell steady. It was heart-warming to see the little ones cheering each other on with every successful wobble-free step.

We also encouraged the children to practice confidence and communication by guessing which tools would be easiest or hardest to balance and to talk about what helped them succeed. Their curiosity shone through as they tried different ideas and shared tips with friends.

Early Education Through Christmas Activities 🎅✨

The festive season is in full swing at Jelly Beans Day nursery, and this week our little learners enjoyed a magical early education activity that brought plenty of joy whilst developing sensory and imagination — our Baby Santa role-play experience!

The highlight of the activity was filling stockings with colourful, textured baubles. While it may look like simple Christmas fun, there’s a lot of valuable learning in this experience. Handling baubles of different sizes and weights supports early fine-motor development, while choosing which objects to place inside the stockings encourages decision-making and problem-solving.

The sensory elements were just as important. Sparkly surfaces, smooth textures and bright festive colours helped promote sensory exploration, allowing our babies to discover and engage with new materials at their own pace.

Role play is a powerful tool in early childhood development. By stepping into the shoes of Baby Santa, our little ones explored early imaginative thinking — an essential building block for creativity and communication later on.

Jelly Beans Early Years Nursery!

At Jelly Beans as an Early Years Nursery we believe learning should be joyful, imaginative, and full of exploration. Our little learners had a truly egg-citing time with a themed activity week focused on eggs, chicks, and all things springtime. 

We packed our days with hand-on, sensory-rich activities that helped children develop their early maths, fine motor, and creative thinking skills, all while having loads of fun. 

Counting Eggs and Chicks

Children were encouraged to count how many chicks they could find hiding in the pretend henhouse and sort the eggs by size and colour. Some of our older learners even began exploring basic addition and subtraction by “hatching” eggs and counting how many chicks popped out. 

This playful approach helps develop number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and early problem solving skills, all wrapped up in a story-driven activity that sparks curiosity.
